The
Lubbock Advertising Federation (LAF) was founded in 1948
with approximately twenty members, many of whom were
professors and students at Texas Tech University. J. Culiver Hill was the club's first president and first
Silver Medal recipient. The club was
known simply as Lubbock Ad Club until 1961 when it
became affiliated with the American Advertising
Federation (AAF), and the name changed to the Lubbock
Advertising Federation. Today the club has more
than 100 Lubbock Advertising professionals listed on the
membership roster. Today, as members of
LAF, we are all a part of a larger organization, the AAF.
With 50,000 members covering 15 districts,
the AAF is the voice of the advertising industry. Structured to serve its member clubs, or local charter
benefits in a variety of ways, from Addy Awards which
recognize creative excellence in advertising on a local
as well as a national level, Club Achievement Awards,
Silver Medal Awards recognizing outstanding advertising
contributions of men and women, to public service
campaigns, advertising education campaigns and more.
